Good value for basic hosting

I was looking for cheap shared hosting and got a decent intro discount here. Signed up for Managed Shared Hosting, and it felt like a solid deal for the price paid. Set up was quick enough. Happy with the overall savings.

Reliable as always

I've used Netcetera for a few years now, mostly for domain registration and some basic email hosting. This last order was for a new Domain Name Registration and Email Hosting. It was smooth, just like my previous purchases. Always consistent service, which is why I keep coming back.

Detailed service thoughts

I purchased a Virtual Private Server and an SSL Certificate. The ordering process was straightforward, picked my specs, and checkout was easy. The VPS activation took about an hour, which was within their stated timeframe. The SSL certificate installed without any hitches, which was a relief. I did have a question about setting up a specific database, and their support got back to me within a couple of hours with clear instructions. Performance of the VPS has been stable so far. No major complaints, everything worked as expected from start to finish. Good experience overall, they delivered what they promised.

Mostly good, minor issue

I got a Managed WordPress Hosting package and a free domain with it. The hosting itself performs well, pages load fast, and the WordPress setup was a breeze. Customer service was responsive when I needed help pointing the domain. My only gripe was that the free domain took an extra day to fully propagate compared to the hosting, which was a bit annoying. But once it was all up, everything ran smoothly. Good value for what I paid, just a small delay there.

Just got the renewal notice for my shared hosting. Price jump was a bit more than I expected.

R Rahul87 1 month ago
Yeah, Netcetera's introductory discounts are great but the renewal price can be a shock sometimes. Did you check if there's a renewal promo code available?
11
P PriyaR 1 month ago
I tried looking but didn't find anything specific for renewals. Just general new customer stuff.

D Deepak91 1 month ago
Sometimes you have to contact support directly. They might offer something if you ask nicely.

S Sneha22 1 month ago
Mine increased too last month. I think they factor in the 'introductory hosting discount' ending. It's common with a lot of providers.
11
C coolboy88 1 month ago
Following this, my renewal is coming up soon.

A AmitM 1 month ago
Worth looking into their annual billing discount if you haven't already. Sometimes that brings the cost down a bit.
6
P PriyaR 1 month ago
True, but the jump felt substantial. Wondering if I should just switch to another host.
5
P PoojaR 1 month ago
I heard sometimes they do a 'renewal promo code' around Black Friday or Cyber Monday if you're lucky. Might be worth waiting if you can.

P PriyaR 1 month ago
My renewal is next month, can't really wait till Nov.

Just noticed my renewal price for dedicated server hosting from Netcetera is significantly higher than last year. Anyone else seeing this? Is there a renewal promo code I'm missing?

G gamerraj 4 hours ago
Yeah, mine went up a bit too. I called them and they said my introductory discount had expired. No special renewal promo code was offered, but they did give me a small credit for loyalty when I pushed a bit.
8
T techfreak 3 hours ago
A loyalty credit is better than nothing! Did you have to speak to a manager or just regular support?
4
G gamerraj 3 hours ago
Just regular support, but I think it depends on the agent. Worth a try.
7
D darkknight 3 hours ago
Good to know. Will give them a call next week.
6
N NikhilS 3 hours ago
I usually just wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals if I can. Sometimes you can snag a new plan at a better rate, even if it means migrating. Depends how much work that is for your setup.
8
D deepu 2 hours ago
Agreed, not always feasible.

T techfreak 2 hours ago
Migration for a dedicated server is a pain though. Trying to avoid that.

P PoojaR 1 hour ago
My shared hosting plan also went up, but it was expected. The first year was a really good deal. I didn't see any public renewal coupons when I looked.
6
M maxwell 13 minutes ago
Definitely. Renewal discounts are rare for dedicated plans across providers.
3
T techfreak 11 minutes ago
That's what I figured, but dedicated server prices are a different ball game.

Thinking of moving my small business website to Netcetera. Currently on a free builder but need something more reliable with proper support. Anyone using their Managed WordPress Hosting?

G gamerraj 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I've been on their Managed WordPress for about 6 months now. Uptime has been solid for me, no complaints there. Support is decent, usually get a response within a few hours.

D deepu 2 weeks ago
Do they handle all the WordPress updates and security stuff? That's a big one for me.
5
N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
Good to hear about the uptime. My current site goes down way too often.
4
G gamerraj 2 weeks ago
Yep, they manage the core updates and security. It's why I went with the 'managed' option.
6
R RahulK 2 weeks ago
I'd compare their features with a few others before committing. Sometimes Netcetera can be a bit pricier than some, but you often get what you pay for in hosting. Check their money-back guarantee policy too.
10
N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I'm doing some comparisons. The money-back guarantee is a good point.
3
A AmitM 2 weeks ago
They do have a money-back guarantee, I think it's 30 days.

We use their standard Linux Hosting, not WP specifically, but generally their technical support is responsive. They're based in the UK, which helps with communication.
9
N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
That's a plus, I prefer UK-based support.
5
R rockstar007 2 weeks ago
Are their data centers in the UK too? Just wondering about latency.

How quick do they usually get your hosting set up? Need to get a new site online ASAP.

B Brett 1 month ago
Mine was almost instant. Like, within an hour I had my login details and could start setting things up.
6
A Alex K. 1 month ago
Yeah, it's super fast, practically immediate for shared hosting. You get access right away.

Thinking of switching my small business site over to Netcetera. Any real experiences with their managed wordpress hosting? Is it actually fast?

C Carly Z. 1 month ago
Yeah, I've had my portfolio site on their managed WordPress for about a year. It's solid, honestly. Never had any slowdowns, even with some traffic spikes. Support helped me out when I messed up some plugins too.
3
J Jared Vargas 1 month ago
It's decent. Not SiteGround fast maybe, but definitely good for the price. Haven't had any major complaints.

Thinking of moving my small business site over to Netcetera, maybe a Managed WordPress plan. Anyone have experience with their support when things go wrong?

S Sneha22 3 weeks ago
Following this thread. Been looking at their Managed WordPress too. Heard good things about their uptime but support is key.
6
R Rahul87 3 weeks ago
Same, my current host has terrible uptime.
6
P PriyaK 3 weeks ago
Yeah, uptime seems pretty solid from what I've seen.
6
P PriyaK 3 weeks ago
I've been with them for about 8 months on a basic shared hosting plan. Had an issue with my SSL certificate after renewal and their chat support sorted it out pretty quickly. Took about 20 mins total. Was pleasantly surprised.
12
R RohanS 3 weeks ago
20 mins is decent for SSL. Did they fix it themselves or just guide you?
2
A AmitM 3 weeks ago
Good to know. My current host makes me jump through hoops.
3
P PriyaK 3 weeks ago
They actually fixed it for me, didn't have to do anything much beyond providing details.

D Deepak91 3 weeks ago
I had a less positive experience with a VPS config issue. Took a few back and forth emails over two days to get it resolved. Maybe depends on the complexity of the problem or who you get.
3
D Deepak91 3 weeks ago
True, but I was hoping for something faster for a 'managed' service.
8
C coolboy88 3 weeks ago
VPS stuff can be tricky though, so two days isn't the worst.

Is Netcetera actually based in the UK? Some hosting companies say they are but their servers are overseas.

P Paula 1 month ago
Yep, they're definitely UK-based. Their data centers are all in the UK too, which is why I went with them for my local clients.
2
S Shane 1 month ago
They are, yeah. Found that out when I was looking for GDPR compliance specifically.

hey, trying to sign up for a new hosting plan. noticed there are a bunch of promos floating around. can i use more than one discount code, like a Black Friday one and a 'free domain' offer?

D Dana Vargas 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one promo code at a time. They usually state that in the fine print.
5
P Phil Romero 2 months ago
Yeah, they typically don't stack. You pick the best one for your initial term. I got a free domain with my first hosting package, but that was it.
